About this Event
THE TOPIC: Join us as we discover sculptures by women, for women, and about women in Washington, DC. While there are too few statues of women in the nation's capitol but there are many talented artists behind them. Explore the legacies of Vinnie Ream who sculpted President Lincoln, Glenna Goodacre of the Vietnam Women's Memorial, and Nina Akamu of the National Japanese American Memorial. You will be shocked to find out just how few of the 100 statues in the Capitol Building represent women - spoiler alert, it's way less than 50 percent!
THE DETAILS: A recording of the tour will be available for one week before expiring. Join us on Zoom to communicate with our tour guide in real time! Share comments and messages through the chat box during the tour or hop on video after the program for a meet and greet. This tour is a digital presentation in which our public historians highlight places relevant to women's history in the Washington, DC area.
