Registration closes one hour prior to class beginning.We are holding a monthly gathering for those who wish to work on their crafts (knitting, crocheting, stitching, jewelry-making, writing, drawing, you name it!) in the shared space of a zoom call. We are seeking self-care, community, and creative expression in a group that will welcome and encourage conversation and connection, though there is no requirement to speak or to even have your screen on if you’d rather be anonymous and just “be” with us!
Let’s face it, our world demands constant productivity often for the sake of others. I often think that we are led to believe “how can we craft at a time like this?” But this is precisely the moment to engage in what makes us feel happy and at peace. We will reclaim the energy and beauty of crafting for the sake of personal fulfillment and relaxation. All skill levels and craft mediums are welcome in these gatherings that will be like book clubs, but for crafts. We will set a theme for each session so you can consider it or even journal on it before attending, and in our meetings, you will have an opportunity to share with others, if you choose, while I will facilitate. Note that these are not lectures or classes but more like free-form meetings in a safe space, with 3 price levels so you can choose what works best for you economically.
March: If you happen to know anything about people taking part in making things as a form of
resistance, let’s talk about it! I’m curious to know more about people who have engaged in
different craft forms as a form of activism in the past, but also, if you know of any ways we can be part of resistance in similar ways in the present.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Susan Redington Bobby, the founder of Professor of Words, LLC, is an online teacher, a freelance editor, a writing mentor, and a tutor. Her specialty is being able to read people on a deeper level through their writing, and she has recently completed a certificate course on integrative somatic trauma therapy. She is a retired professor of English with expertise in fairy tales, adolescent literature, goddess archetypes, magical realism, creative writing, and film studies. She is the author of Beyond His Dark Materials, the editor of Fairy Tales Reimagined, and co-editor of The Artemis Archetype in Popular Culture. The Series Editor of Tales from Fiddler’s Green, she also occasionally publishes creative fiction. She is currently studying the Bardic Course in Druidry from OBOD. She maintains Mellie’s Grove, a certified NWF backyard wildlife habitat that is home to a rescued and small stabilized cat family and all manner of wildlife.
