About this Event

Featuring the FBI's Threat Management and Behavioral Response Unit - this free continuing education event(CE)delves into the intersection of screen time and mental health, emphasizing the importance of setting clear boundaries, promoting digital literacy, and encouraging healthy alternatives for our youth.

Participants will gain insights into the impact of screen time on mental well-being and learn strategies to mitigate potential risks. The course also covers juvenile online threats, trends at both local and national levels, and effective threat management techniques to safeguard youth from online risks.

Objectives for Continuing Education Presentation:

1. Understand the Process of Radicalization: Explain how youth are targeted and influenced by extremist groups through social media and online platforms.

2. Recognize Warning Signs: Equip attendees with the ability to identify behavioral and digital red flags indicating potential radicalization.

3. Evaluate the Psychological Impact: Explain the mental health effects of radicalization and isolation on youth.

4. Present Intervention Strategies: Introduce FBI and law enforcement protocols for addressing and mitigating radicalization.

5. Provide Therapeutic Tools: Share therapeutic approaches to help at-risk youth resist extremist influences and recover from exposure.

6. Highlight Collaborative Efforts: Emphasize the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, mental health professionals, and communities in prevention efforts.

7. Promote Positive Alternatives: Offer strategies to engage youth in constructive activities and online behaviors that build resilience against radicalization.

Gain an understanding of juvenile threat, trends in the area and country, threat mitigation, and threat management regarding online risk for youth. All attendees will receive 1 freeCE credit and an incredible free continentonial breakfest will be served.

About Our Presenters:

Catherine (Corrie) Griffith is FBI Tampa Division’s Threat Management Coordinator (TMC) for the Behavioral Analysis Unit-Behavioral Threat Assessment Center (BAU-BTAC). SA Griffith has been with FBI Tampa Division for the past four years and is part of the Joint Terrorism Task Force where she works domestic terrorism investigations. Before joining the JTTF, SA Griffith investigated a variety of complex white collar crime cases. Prior to joining the Bureau, SA Griffith spent five years practicing real estate, bankruptcy, foreclosure and contract law in Texas.


Elyse Brandeberry, COO - Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a LMHC with amaster’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from The Professional School of Psychology, Chicago, IL. She began her career as a program facilitator at a Forensic and Civil case Inpatient Facility in Athens, Ohio. Elyse joined the Central Florida Behavioral Hospital team in 2013 as a therapist on the dual diagnoses unit. She transitioned to the Intake Supervisor in 2016 and then to the Director of Performance Improvement in 2019 and also serves at the Facility Compliance Officer. Elyse enjoys spending time with her family, participating in outdoor activities and gardening.
