Have you been thinking about volunteering with a great organization? Do you love quilts, art, history, Dayton, meeting new people? Join the Virginia Quilt Museum for a volunteer orientation on Thursday, October 2 from 5:30-7:00 pm to learn about our volunteer opportunities, get a behind the scenes look at the museum, meet the staff, see a few of our newly acquired quilts, and see if VQM is the place for you. And we’ll have snacks.
Volunteers help the museum with many tasks but the two most urgent volunteer needs we have are for docents and gift shop volunteers. Docents greet our guests, explain museum rules, and answer questions. Gift shop volunteers take admissions, ring up gift shop sales, and answer questions about items in the gift. Volunteers receive training before their first shift, and a staff member is always in the museum if a question arises.
Schedule of the evening:
5:30-5:45 – Welcome, overview of VQM, staff introductions
5:45-6:00 – What our volunteers do
6:00-6:20 – Tour of the museum
6:20-6:45 – Presentation of quilts
6:45-7:00 – Q&A
