Vine to Art: Kudzu Sphere Workshop

Discover the art of transforming an everyday invasive vine into a beautiful, functional work piece. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to turn kudzu, a fast-growing invasive Southern vine, into a unique kudzu sphere. Using whole or split vines, makers will learn techniques for shaping and weaving the vines into round, hollow spheres that can be used as rustic home décor, hanging globe-style light fixtures, or as the foundation for other basketry projects.
About the class: This class is perfect for beginners and seasoned makers alike. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a sturdy kudzu sphere, a new appreciation for kudzu’s creative potential, and the skills to continue weaving at home.

Where: DeSoto State Park in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Fee: $60 - including all supplies. Class space is limited, pre-registration is required for attendance.
