Villa Kathrine was built in 1900 by an eccentric millionaire who traveled the world and came home to recreate a piece of North Africa on the banks of the Mississippi. He designed it for a woman who never came. He lived in it alone for twelve years with only his 212-pound Great Dane, Bingo. When the dog died, Metz buried him in the rose garden and never recovered. He sold the castle, lost it to vandals, and died heartbroken.
The building survived. So did whatever is inside it.
For over a century, people inside this villa have reported doors slamming on their own, objects vanishing, footsteps circling the courtyard pool when no one is there — and the clicking of large dog toenails on the tile floors. A 2009 investigation captured EVPs of a woman screaming in German from the basement, a direct response to "Mr. Metz, are you there?" in the master bedroom, and the whispered words "Oh sweet dog" in an empty room.
