VIGIL - Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance Vigil
Friday, November 20 - 7pm
On the front steps of First Congregational Church, UCC
1 South Main Street - Randolph, MA
Every year we say their names, and every year the list is too long.
Transgender Day of Remembrance started here in Massachusetts. In 1998, Rita Hester, a Black trans woman, was murdered in her Allston apartment. Her killing went unsolved, and the coverage misgendered her. The community gathered anyway, refusing to let her be erased. That refusal became a day observed around the world.
This year, as trans people face a wave of laws, rhetoric, and violence aimed at pushing them out of public life, we will not hold this vigil behind closed doors. We are holding it on our front steps, in public, where Randolph can see that this church grieves these lives and stands with the trans people still living them.
Come light a candle. Come hear the names. Come stand with us.
All are welcome, whatever your faith or none.
