About this Event
DESCRIPTION:
Step into a world of contrasts as tenor Dominic Salvati and pianist John-Micah Braswell present Virtue & Vice: A Journey of Duality, an entrancing recital that traces the moral contradiction of classic tenor repertoire. Like a comic book style saga of heroes and villains, the evening unfolds as a dramatic arc—from the purity of innocence to the self-indulgence of narcissism, culminating in the depths of malice. Featuring selections from the operatic and art song repertoire, this program delves into the complexity of human nature using the music of Puccini, Ives , Schumann, Verdi, and many more. With special guest singers joining for select duets, this performance promises moments of both beauty and brutality, tenderness and turmoil. Join us for an unforgettable evening of music and storytelling at the Pacific Opera Project on April 5th at 2pm.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Dominic Salvati is an American born Tenor, hailing from Southern California. He received his Bachelors in Music at California Baptist University in 2023, where he studied the roles of Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore, and Roméo in Roméo et Juliette in fully orchestrated and staged productions. Dominic was raised in an Italian American family where opera and classical music were familiar and celebrated forms of entertainment. Through his studies and career, he has relished the opportunity to explore his heritage. Dominic received multiple encouragement prizes and grants last season, most notably from The 2023 Mildred Miller International Voice Competition, The 2024 Pasadena Vocal Competition, and Metropolitan Opera’s 2024 Laffont Competition as a district competitor. This past winter Dominic participated in the 2024 Castleton Vocal Immersion Program where he worked with renowned vocalists Paul Groves and Michelle DeYoung. This season, Dominic had the great joy of making his professional debut as Don José in Bizet’s Carmen with Opera San Luis Obisbo as well as debuting two forgotten roles with Pacific Opera Project, Carlino in Cagnoni’s Don Bucefalo and Tenente in Salieri’s La Scuola de Gelosi. Just weeks ago, Dominic was the winner of Western Region in the 2025 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and is looking forward to competing as a semi-finalist on the Met stage this March.
