Vibes After 5 is back for Black History Month, and this one hits different y’all!
This year marks 100 years of Black history commemorations, and we’re gathering the only way we know how: with intention, style, art, joy, and community. This special edition centers BlackPast.org, the world’s largest digital resource for Black history, founded right here in Seattle by the late historian Dr. Quintard Taylor.
This night is a celebration of legacy and what we’re building next. It will be a beautiful living history experience. This month, we also encourage you to wear apparel, accessories, or shoes styled or created by a Black designer. All styles are welcomed - everything from streetwear to suits. Let your apparel choice spark the conversation as you network with fellow attendees.
What the Night Feels Like
Good food. A drink in hand. Beautiful art everywhere you turn. Conversations that happen naturally. Music that carries the room. And people who actually want to connect.
This special edition of Vibes After 5 is about celebrating Black history in motion through art, fashion, storytelling, and community. You’ll experience a nonprofit art salon you can return to for free, support BlackPast.org and the legacy of Dr. Quintard Taylor, and take part in a night designed to feel intentional, elevated, and welcoming.
Your ticket includes a full evening of moving moments, including Black history trivia woven with culture and fun, Networking Bingo designed to help you meet people you’ll still be talking to after the event, a live interactive art experience inside the ArtLove Salon, highlighting Black fashion designers, the official launch of Sync Seattle’s new website, and a portion of ticket sales supporting BlackPast.org. Food and drink will be available for purchase, and your ticket includes one complimentary drink.
The Fashion Moment
For the third year, we’re inviting guests to come dressed fly in a piece by a Black designer. We’ll ask attendees to step on stage to share the story behind what they’re wearing, who made it, and why they wore it. A light moment of sharing with no pressure. Just style as storytelling, led by the community. Yes, you as the guests are the models.
The Space
ArtLove Salon is a nonprofit gallery designed to spark human connection through art. Once you experience it, you’ll want to come back. Consider this your introduction. The space is located near Benaroya Hall and the former Target.
Giving Back
In honor of Dr. Taylor’s legacy, 10 percent of proceeds from the night will be donated to BlackPast.org, helping ensure Black history remains accessible, accurate, and alive for generations to come.
Why This Night Matters
Black history is something we live, wear, create, and pass forward. This night is about honoring where we’ve been and gathering in the fullness of who we are now.
