VFS Acting: Performance for Video Games (On Campus) Oct 20 - Nov 12

Overview:
This course introduces actors to the fundamentals of performance for video games, with a focus on performance capture awareness, physical storytelling, and integrating voice and movement. Participants explore how game scripts differ from film and television, and how performances need to be clear, and emotionally grounded within interactive contexts.
Classes take place in a movement-focused studio environment and include exposure to professional performance capture workflows. Participants observe demonstrations by advanced students or graduates and engage in guided performance exercises designed to build literacy in the medium.

Learning Outcomes – Participants Will:
- Analyze video game scripts and performance contexts.
- Integrate physical and vocal choices into a cohesive performance.
- Recognize introductory performance capture vocabulary and concepts.
- Maintain truthful performance within repeatable and technical constraints.
- Collaborate effectively through peer direction and observation.
Admission Requirements:
- Some previous acting experience or our course Script to Screen is recommended.
- Participants must be 16 years or older.
- All participants are required to speak and write English at an acceptable level. For this program we recommend an IELTS Band 6.0 – Academic level or equivalent.
