VetSurf - Operation San Diego, La Jolla CA, Aug 25-29th
About this Event
PLEASE READ EVERYTHING
We will be doing a multiple day VetSurf® program Learn to Surf Clinic in partnership with One More Wave, and several others. We will have surfing on three of the days for all the Veterans that are participating and other water sports in the afternoons, like Kayaking, Boating and SUP. This event is for disabled Veterans from around the country to participate in and for volunteers who want to give back to them. Veterans wanting to participate and volunteers are invited to sign up as soon as possible. We have a limited number of shared rooms available at extremely discounted rates for those coming in from around the country and limited transportation to shuttle Veterans to and from venues and the hotel. Local Veterans participating or those getting separate accommodations will be responsible for getting to event venues on time via their own transportation. All Veterans who register must participate in all activities.
Volunteer sign-ups are crucial to make this event a success. Each morning of surfing (Aug. 26-28 7am-12:30pm) at La Jolla Shores will require at least 8 surf instructors, 20-25 water assists, 8-12 Beach assists, 2 safety people, and 4 booth support. Everyone volunteering as asked to help with set-up and tear down each day.
Rooms for Instructors from out of town will be provided for the entire event at the host hotel.
Afternoon activities will require minimal volunteers and will be selected each day from the morning surf team of volunteers who can help.
