Vesper Service: A Cookbook Club
About this Event
Vesper Service is Vesper Books and Wine’s communal cookbook club: a recurring gathering centered around cooking, sharing, and connecting through the recipes we love.
For this service, we’re cooking through Moosewood Cookbook, Mollie Katzen’s beloved vegetarian classic. First published in 1977, Moosewood Cookbook helped redefine what home vegetarian cooking could look like, with recipes that are generous, unfussy, deeply flavorful, and meant to be shared.
This is an invitation to cook from a cookbook that has earned its place on countless kitchen shelves and backbars, and to experience it together, one recipe at a time.
How does Vesper Service work?
- Each "service" we select a cookbook to celebrate, ideally one that's been in rotation long enough to remain accessible to folx within our community.
- Purchase (we offer 15% off at Vesper Books and Wine if you purchase a ticket) or borrow the book from a friend or your local library.
- Cook through one recipe in the typical serving size to bring to share.
- Together, we will each discuss why we chose what we made and any modifications made to the recipe.
- Feast and connect with other like-minded folks from our community.
- Once we're finished, all unclaimed leftovers will be portioned out and donated to one of the many Detroit Community Fridges.
