Are you interested in marine life, environmental conservation, and the restoration of our local ecosystems? Katie Mastenbrook, Pinellas County Sea Grant agent, is hosting an exciting opportunity to learn about oysters and the Gulf Shellfish Institute’s citizen science program on Vertical Oyster Gardens (VOGs)!
What to Expect
• Educational Presentation: Learn about oyster ecology, the critical role oysters play in marine ecosystems, and the different oyster restoration methods implemented in the Tampa Bay estuary.
• Demonstrations and Citizen Science Opportunities: Explore how to become a Vertical Oyster Garden citizen science participant. Program participants will learn about VOGs, Weedon Island's VOG check-out station, and the many ways to get involved in the program.
