Rejoignez-nous le 20 novembre pour le vernissage et le lancement de la publication Quelle Modernité : biographies de l’architecture en Chine 1949-1979. L’exposition et la publication remettent en question la modernité socialiste, souvent perçue comme rigide et uniforme, en explorant les pratiques architecturales de l’époque et révélant leur diversité, leur inventivité et leurs liens complexes avec les contextes politiques, sociaux et culturels.À 18 h dans le théâtre Paul-Desmarais, la commissaire de l’exposition Shirley Surya, Conservatrice Design et Architecture au M+, Hong Kong, présentera l’exposition, sa recherche et sa position curatoriale. Cette présentation sera suivie d’une discussion avec l’historienne de l’architecture à Southeast University, Nanjing et coéditrice de la publication, Li Hua, et l’artiste Wang Tuo, qui a réalisé de nouvelles œuvres dans le cadre de l’exposition et de la publication.
Cet événement se déroulera en anglais et sera gratuit. Le nombre de places étant limité, vous devez vous inscrire. Si l’évènement est complet, nous vous invitons à vous présenter à l’accueil du CCA dix minutes avant le début de l’évènement, des places pourraient se libérer.

Join us on November 20 for the opening and book launch of How Modern: Biographies of Architecture in China 1949–1979. The exhibition and publication challenge the often rigid and monolithic perception of socialist modernity in China by exploring the architectural practices of the time, revealing their diversity, inventiveness, and complex connections to political, social, and cultural contexts.
At 6pm in the Paul-Desmarais Theatre, exhibition curator Shirley Surya, Curator, Design and Architecture, at M+, Hong Kong, will present the project and her curatorial approach. The presentation will be followed by a conversation with architectural historian Li Hua from Southeast University, Nanjing, and co-editor of the publication, as well as artist Wang Tuo, who created new works as part of the exhibition and publication.
This event will be held in English and is free of charge. As space is limited, registration is required. If the event is full, we encourage you to come to the CCA front desk ten minutes before the start, as places may become available.
The project is organized in collaboration with M+, Hong Kong.
