(free/ educational) Join me for one of my favorite ecological events of the year at Ragged Mountain for a 2.7 mile loop. Expect to hear the chorus of thousands of frogs from more than a dozen vernal pools. We will stop along the way to learn about the formation of the pools, their importance to the ecosystem, and the amphibians that migrate to them each year at this time.
Please wear sturdy hiking boots, the terrain will be rocky, uneven, muddy, and wet. There will be some elevation gain. Waterproof boots, wool socks, and hiking poles (if you have them) are recommended.
Bring water, snacks, and a sense of wonder.
My events mostly focus on experiencing CT ecosystems with a touch of education. Mini lesson will be at the high school science class level.
