Come join us at Vermont Bicycle Shop for our Trailside Fix Party happening in-store! Become the cool, hip-pack-wearing, trailside bicycle mechanic of your friend group, or just have some fun in a safe space, learn more about bikes, and enjoy some snacks (with gluten-free and vegan options available).

Learn all about how to handle some of the most common trailside problems that can happen on your bike ride!

Bridget and Darren are hosting a fun session on the most common trailside fixes you can do yourself. Here’s what we’ll cover:

• The Safety Checklist – Learn a quick and easy method to check your bike and avoid the most common problems before you find yourself alone in the woods!
• Chain Issues and Quick Links – What to do when you face a major chain failure.
• Tubeless Flat Fixes – “It’s tubeless, doesn’t that mean it fixes itself?” Oh yeah, this is going to get messy—you’ll know how to handle it!
• Derailleur Hangers – Did you know they’re designed to bend and break? Yep, it’s by design!
• Broken Spokes – We’re not all carrying spoke cutters, wheel truing stations, and bike mechanics in our backpacks. Learn how to limp out of the woods when this happens, or better yet, learn how and when you might need to be best prepared for it so you can keep the party going!

Our rides and events are designed to create a welcoming space for beginner cyclists, and are open to anyone who shares the goal of fostering a comfortable environment to anyone interested in cycling, from non-cyclists to beginner cyclists and experienced cyclists.

We aim to shift away from the established social systems within the cycling world. There are no exclusions; participants are asked to create space for individuals—especially black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), women, queer folks, and those from marginalized or underrepresented backgrounds—to feel safe, supported, and confident, ensuring the best possible experience for all.
