We are pleased to offer a Venomous Competency Training Program at the Amphibian Foundation.
Students who have become certified in our Level I Venomous Training & Certification Course are invited to return for Competency Training, which is offered every other month at the Amphibian Foundation, in Atlanta.
The Competency Training is led by AF Venomous Programs Coordinator, Marjan, who works with students on strengthening their technique, and gaining confidence in the methods learned in the Level 1 training program. Students will first attend a 1 hour lecture on snake bite management and then begin refreshing their skills on non-venomous snakes. After lunch training with venomous snakes will begin!
The Competency Trainings occur every other month for 6.5 hours on Saturdays (10:30am-5pm). Please note due to the dynamic nature of this course it will sometimes end earlier or later than 5pm. Please be prepared to be flexible. These competency training hours are documented for those that are officially recording their training hours. Please only register if you are reasonably sure you can attend. Please contact us with any questions.
Topics covered in the course include:
-Hands on individual training, guided by one of our professional instructors.
-Handling methods for non-venomous and venomous snakes.
-Life history, toxinology, and ecology of native venomous reptiles.
-Emergency field care for envenomation.
-Methods of relocation.
