Prerequisites: Age 16 and up, PVRO-24, Current First Aid/CPR, Current HMO/HMOR; OR NVRO after 2015
Description: The course goal is to provide the student with the knowledge, skill, and values necessary to respond to a common passenger vehicle crash/rescue incident and function as a technical rescuer at the awareness level in accordance with NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications. This 16-hour course will provide advanced, technician-level knowledge and skills as they pertain to common passenger vehicle rescue incidents. Topics will include advanced patient access and disentanglement techniques in addition to rescue techniques for occupants entrapped under a vehicle. The course will also include one or more integrated exercises that will allow each student, while working as a member of a group, to access, disentangle, package, and extricate one or more patients from a common passenger vehicle accident scenario.
