Vegetal armor for midsummer’s Chimera

Join us this July for a special workshop led by artist Olha Pryymak. Please bring along plants, flowers, or other natural materials to contribute to a collective making session.
Together, we will reimagine the Mavka – a broad idea encompassing mythological beings that connect the human and natural worlds. Across different traditions, these figures take many forms and names, embodying the spirits of nature, harvest, protection, mystery, and danger: nymphs, sprites, and woodland spirits.
Olha will guide the group in bringing these beings to life through the creation of a costume adorned with locally gathered plants. Participants will have the opportunity to wear the costume, encounter the Mavka face to face, and interact with this living embodiment of the natural world.
