Join Stephanie Harrington, Natural Resource Program Coordinator with ISU Polk County Extension and Outreach, for the basics on planting and maintaining a vegetable garden.Reduce guessing and get the basics of growing vegetables. You will learn about soil fundamentals, the importance of light, climate and plant hardiness, watering and irrigation, plant selection, importance and need for pollinators, planting and basic care, and an introduction to problem management.
Start small and have success with growing food to supplement your grocery bill.

Enjoy fresher, better-tasting, and more nutritious food.
Even if you’ve never grown vegetables, this program is for you. Stephanie will present a way of gardening that makes it accessible to all levels of knowledge and abilities. You will go home with the information needed to get started and successfully grow food in the home garden.
