Vault to Vessel: Explore "Old Ironsides"
About this Event
Join USS Constitution Museum Curatorial Staff for a special viewing of artifacts in the Museum’s Samuel Eliot Morrison Memorial Library, followed by a guided tour of “Old Ironsides.”This exclusive, guided exploration of naval life during the Age of Sail will start in the Museum’s Reading Room to “open the vault” and look at items from the collection. Then, we’ll head over to board USS Constitution and journey through the decks to see how sailors lived and worked there in the early 1800s.
Tickets are limited to fifteen (15) guests to enable interaction and a special experience. Tickets include a complimentary copy of Exploring Old Ironsides, a visual souvenir guide created by the USS Constitution Museum.
Please note: USS Constitution is an active-duty U.S. Navy vessel. Attendees 18+ will need a federal or state-issued photo ID for access to the ship. Access to USS Constitution is limited to visitors who can safely board the ship’s top (spar) deck via ramp unassisted. Wheelchairs are only allowed to board during favorable tide conditions as the ramp can become too steep; otherwise, wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, and strollers are not allowed on board and must be left on the pier while touring the ship. Access to the below decks requires climbing and descending steep ladder-like steps.
100% of the ticket proceeds support the efforts of the USS Constitution Museum, a private, non-profit organization.
