Varsity brings fireworks back with Corky Siegel
About this Event
Corky Siegel's sold-out performance last year at the Varsity took the audience on a thrilling, magical, musical joy ride. It wasn't a tribute act or a nostalgia show. It was the musical giant himself with 60 years of critical international acclaim.
Siegel returns to the Varsity on Saturday, Aug. 29, and you can be sure he will be bringing a quiver of clever songwriting and creating adventurous blues piano and harmonica improvisations with soul and surprise in person right off the stage in real time.
Siegel, who is a co-founder of the Siegel-Schwall Band and a Blues Hall of Fame Inductee, is known internationally as one of the world’s great blues harmonica players, blues pianist, singer-songwriter, creator of Chamber Blues and the sole pioneer/composer of award-winning revolutionary works that weave blues and classical forms together.
Siegel has a catalogue of recordings on RCA, Vanguard, Alligator, and million selling blues/classical recordings on the iconic classical label Deutsche Grammophon. His close associations with the blues masters in the earlier days of Chicago blues, his essential part in the blues rock revolution, and his surprising success in bringing together blues and classical audiences make him a pivotal figure in modern music history.
Catch this phenomenal performer on Saturday, Aug. 29. Doors and Varsity Bar open at 6, with the show at 7. Tickets are $40 in advance here and at the door on the night of the show. The venue recommends getting tickets in advance, as this show, like last year, will likely sell out.
