Safety Meeting:
A genre-bending supergroup born out of the vibrant music scene of Southwest Colorado. Featuring members of High Country Hustle, Desert Child, Eli Emmitt Band, JAW Trio, Apres Nova, and even the U.S. Army Band, Safety Meeting brings together a lineup of seasoned players whose collective experience spans jazz, folk, rock ‘n’ roll, Latin, and more.
Formed as a creative side project between these acts, Safety Meeting thrives on exploration. Their sound is equal parts improvisational energy and groove-driven songwriting, pulling from their diverse backgrounds to create something that feels funky fresh and simultaneously timeless.
Their latest single, Shine, is a psychedelic quesadilla rock anthem that captures the band’s playful spirit and unique musicianship.
Blurb: Safety Meeting is a Southwest Colorado supergroup featuring members of High Country Hustle, Desert Child, Eli Emmitt Band, JAW Trio, and the U.S. Army Band. Blending jazz, folk, rock ‘n’ roll, Latin, and more, the band thrives on collaboration and exploration. Their latest single, Shine, is a psychedelic “quesadilla rock” anthem that captures their playful spirit and diverse sound.
Nu Bass Theory:
Nu Bass Theory, led by bassist and producer Jesse Ogle, operates as a collective featuring a rotating cast of some of the region’s best musicians. The group is typically seen with co-founder Guillaume Metz, a featured musician on all tracks. Nu Bass Theory performances often include Gracie Jessop (featured on select releases), Ben Weirich on keys (featured on select releases), John Stenger on keys (featured on select releases), Bharat Bhargava on keys, Evan Ballinger on keys, and Rey Murphy on vocals/MC.
Nu Bass Theory seamlessly blends electronic beats, hip synth melodies, intricate samples, and dope vocal harmonies. Based in Denver, this outfit crafts a rare slice of electronica that maintains the groove, extending an irresistible invitation to an alternate lounge world dance party. Their music celebrates diversity and innovation, transcending traditional genre labels to create a sonic journey where the boundaries between electro, pop, and jazz effortlessly dissolve. Each performance fuses electronic prowess and live instrumentation, promising an unforgettable experience that defies expectations. Whether captivated by the infectious energy of their produced beats, pocket, or mantra-based vocal style, Nu Bass Theory invites you to join them on a sonic adventure. In Denver and beyond, they are the architects of a new era in electro-pop-jazz-funk. This rare slice of electronica that maintains the groove sets the stage for a musical movement, inviting all to dance, listen, vibe, and create friendships.
JAW:
JAW started as an improvisational trio to express the musical stylings of Jacob Nalle, Alec Mayes, and Wade Campbell. The group plays music from all eras, but stylistically draws from R&B, soul, and jazz fusion. New to the Durango music scene, JAW represents a collaborative effort amongst musicians; bringing guest musicians, vocalists, and rappers into the fray. You can catch JAW every Wednesday as the house backing band for CoLab Southwest at the Black Heron from 8 to 11.
