Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in style at Valdese Celebrates America 250, a patriotic evening of family fun, history, and community spirit in Valdese!Join us on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 5:00–8:00 PM at the Old Rock School and Temple Field (400 Main Street West) for an unforgettable celebration filled with activities for all ages.
Kick off the evening at 5:00 PM with a relaxed picnic atmosphere featuring photo opportunities, family-friendly fun, and delicious treats from local favorites like Myra’s Ice Cream Truck and more to be announced. Step back in time during the American History Meet, Greet & Treats, where you can interact with iconic figures such as George Washington, Amelia Earhart, Abraham Lincoln, and more.
History continues at the Foundation Forward/Charters of Freedom Patriotic Celebration (227 Main Street West), where guests can meet Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson and view replicas of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights.
At 6:00 PM, get creative with Make & Take Patriotic Arts & Crafts, followed by the Presentation of Colors at 6:30 PM by Valdese American Legion Post #234. Enjoy uplifting patriotic music by the Community Choir and a special feature, Explore National Parks with Photographer Ed Lane.
Wrap up the evening at 7:30 PM with an outdoor showing of the family-friendly film “Wild America” (PG).
