About this Event
Welcome to the RISE Utility Solar – New-to-Industry Technician Training course. This program is specifically designed for individuals who are new to the solar industry, as well as experienced technicians coming from other sectors such as wind, oil, and related industries, who are preparing to work within utility-scale solar power plants. As large-scale solar power plants play an increasingly critical role in the global shift toward renewable energy, the need for knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and technically skilled professionals has never been greater.
This course will provide you with a foundational understanding of how utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems operate, including the key components, system architecture, and operational principles. You will also gain essential hands-on skills and safety knowledge needed to perform effectively and responsibly in the field.
Whether you're transitioning from another trade or starting fresh in the renewable energy sector, this course will empower you to contribute confidently and safely to the future of clean energy.
Training Times
8:00AM – 4:30PM PST Monday through Friday

Intended Audience
Individuals who are new (0-3 Years) to utility scale solar power plant work.
RISE New-to-Industry Course (10 Days)
Module 1: CPR/First Aid/AED (1 Day)
Module 2: NFPA-70E (2 Days)
Module 3: General Site Safety & Job Planning (2 Days)
Module 4: AC/DC Electrical Theory (1 day)
Module 5: Digital Multi-Meter (DMM) Basics (1 Day)
Module 6: Photovoltaic (PV) Utility Power Plant Overview (2 Day’s)
Module 7: Fasteners & Torquing (1 Day)
Please note that each course requires a minimum enrollment of three students. If this minimum is not met, you will have the opportunity to reschedule for the next available session. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a RISE Certificate of Completion.
