KDAC has created music festivals where the winning folk song and dance take home a trophy for their community. So far, the confirmed dances are Maasai, Kikuyu, Kisii, and Luhya. We’ll add other communities as they join. To be inclusive and authentic, our kids will compete in mashairi. We have two categories for mashairi: 5-12 years and 13-20 years. The winner in each category will take home an individual trophy.
