Genre: Avantgarde Progressiv Metal meets Brazilian Folk
FFO: The Mars Volta, Magma, Hermeto Pascoal, King Crimson
PAPANGU is a progressive rock and avant-garde metal band formed in 2012 in João Pessoa, Brazil. Hailing from the easternmost point of the Americas, the group blends the texture and heaviness of stoner and sludge metal with Brazilian syncopated rhythms, the traditional harmonies of Northeastern Brazil, and the dissonant experiments of modern jazz fusion and avant-metal. They debuted with Holoceno (2021), a critically acclaimed, apocalyptic concept album blending Faustian myth with ecological eschatology, which presented a critique of the Bolsonaro administration’s destruction of the Brazilian environment and its social and political consequences.
Now, with their new, full-analog LP Celestial (2026), Papangu makes a firm statement against the so-called "artificial intelligence" and is poised to once again present their “virtuoso prog-metal-folk” (The Guardian) to European audiences.
Celestial will be out on August 7th, 2026, via Deck.

Genre: Cosmic Jazz
FFO: RAKTA, Hurtmold, Alice Coltrane
Both crucial members of the Brazilian music scene, Carla Boregas and M.Takara have been playing as a duo since 2018. Together their music is the result of an interplay between drums and synths, blending Boregas’s aether and warmth electronics with Takara’s jazzy improvised percussion, somewhere between abstract improvisation and propulsive rhythm. The landscape they present is real and vibrant, sometimes brash, sometimes beautiful, rarely bland or ambivalent, an organic layering of manipulated synthesizers and acoustic sounds.
