UNITED SILENT MAJORITY COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE
Saturday, November 21, 2026
11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Logan County Courthouse
It’s official. We’re bringing back the United Silent Majority Community Food Drive for the second year.
And I want to make one thing very clear from the beginning:
EVERYTHING DONATED WILL STAY RIGHT HERE IN LOGAN COUNTY.
This is our community helping our community.
We’ll be set up at the Logan County Courthouse from 11 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, November 21. Collections will be designated along South Opera Street, making this as easy as possible. Drive up, drop off your donations, and be on your way.
WHAT ARE WE COLLECTING?
* Non-perishable food for Logan County food pantries
* Frozen meats for local organizations equipped to properly store and distribute them
* Cold-weather clothing, including coats, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and other winter necessities
* New, unopened hygiene products for local homeless shelters
* Feminine hygiene products for Period Kits Ohio, including pads, tampons, liners and other menstrual-care products
* Pet food to help our local animal shelter
I’m especially happy that we’re adding Period Kits Ohio to this year’s drive. Period products are a basic necessity, but they can also be expensive and are something people may not immediately think about when donating. So if you’re out shopping and want to grab a box of pads, tampons, liners or other feminine hygiene products, we’ll gladly accept them.
If you have a couple cans of soup, bring them. If you have a winter coat that has been hanging in the closet since approximately the Bush administration, bring it. If you want to toss a giant bag of dog food in the trunk, we’ll take that too.
It all helps.
TO OUR LOGAN COUNTY FOOD PANTRIES
If your pantry would like to receive a portion of the food collected during the drive, please contact me directly.
We will coordinate with the participating pantries ahead of time and arrange pickup times following the event so the donations can be divided and distributed locally.
And this part is important:
We are NOT asking the food pantries to provide volunteers or spend three hours standing downtown helping us collect donations.
The people running and volunteering at our local food pantries already do enough.
They spend countless hours collecting food, stocking shelves, organizing distributions, filling boxes and helping families throughout Logan County. The whole point of this event is to help them, not give them another Saturday afternoon assignment.
We’ll do the collecting.
We’ll do the sorting.
We’ll coordinate with you afterward.
You just tell us your pantry wants to participate, and we’ll work out the rest.
WE DO NEED VOLUNTEERS
That means United Silent Majority needs some volunteers of our own.
We’ll need people who can help receive donations, unload vehicles, sort items, organize everything and keep the operation moving from 11 AM to 2 PM.
You don’t necessarily have to stay for the entire event. If you can give us an hour, great. If you can stay all three hours, even better.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact me directly.
This isn’t political. There isn’t a Republican can of green beans and a Democratic box of macaroni and cheese.
It’s simply people helping people.
Every can. Every coat. Every hygiene product. Every period product. Every pound of meat. Every bag of pet food.
It all stays right here in Logan County.
