🗓️ Saturday, October 24
📍 Crown Hill Cemetery
✏️ 11 AM–1 PM: Sketch
🍽️ 1–2 PM: Social
🌳 2:30–4:30 PM: Arborist Tour
Join the Indy Urban Sketchers and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) for an afternoon of sketching, socializing, and exploring the landscape of Crown Hill Cemetery!
We’ll start with a sketching session from 11 AM–1 PM, taking inspiration from the cemetery’s weathered monuments, stately trees, and winding paths of this historic landscape. From 1–2 PM, we’ll take a break to socialize at Hoagies and Hops and connect with fellow creatives and sketchers.
At 2:30 PM, we'll return to the cemetery for a special arborist-led tour of the cemetery’s trees and landscape. Learn more about the site’s remarkable trees, the challenges of caring for trees in a historic cemetery, and the stories written into the landscape over time.
Bring your sketchbook and sense of mystery and we'll capture the beauty of Crown Hill in this season of ghosts and fall color!
PARKING: Let's meet by the South Gothic Gate at 3400-3402 Boulevard Place for both the sketching session and arborist tour. There is parking in lots by the entrance and near the Gothic Chapel. Visitors can park along the roads in the cemetery, but not on the grass.
Attendees are welcome to join either session or both, all free of charge. Please RSVP and indicate whether you plan to join the arborist tour so we can provide an accurate headcount. See you soon!
