About this Event
Using Design Thinking to Tackle Localized Climate Impacts is a week long IAP activity that will prepare students to work in interdisciplinary teams on complex systems challenges. The skills acquired are useful in working on projects such as multidisciplinary collaborative curriculum development, community climate action, or climate related organizational change. This project-based class combines the product design process of Design Thinking with a deep understanding of energy systems to explore climate mitigation and adaptation strategies related to the Greater Boston area. Stemming from the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR)’s Climate Action Through Education (CATE) Program, the class will consider applications of the findings in multidisciplinary high school classrooms. Along the way the course will apply a multitude of tools to analyze the geographic, social, historical, economic, and technological components and implications of the energy systems in question, thereby considering resource availability and justice questions. All students are welcome; first come, first serve.
