Use It or Lose It: The Truth About Bone Health
About this Event
Join Professor Dan Gordon and Dr Diane Johnson, Exercise Physiologist and Bone Health Strategist at Anglia Ruskin University, for an enlightening discussion on the science of bone health and why it matters at every stage of life.
Women are at particularly high risk of osteoporosis as they age, especially following the hormonal changes of menopause. Dr Johnson's research explores how hormones, exercise, and lifestyle interact to influence bone health across the lifespan, revealing why the foundations of a healthy skeleton are laid much earlier than most people realise.
Discover why the principle of "use it or lose it" is so important for our bones and learn how activities such as resistance training and weight-bearing exercise can help build and maintain bone strength, reduce the risk of fractures, and support lifelong independence.
Combining cutting-edge research with practical advice, this session will separate fact from fiction and provide simple, evidence-based strategies to help people of all ages protect their skeletal health and stay active for longer.
