We are planning a town-wide celebration to commemorate this momentous anniversary yearLocation: the newly restored, iconic Hopewell Train station
Food: we will be serving a special Brick Farm Tavern pig roast and BBQ dinner along with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options, with raspberry donuts and watermelon for $2.50 per person
Beverages: free lemonade & iced tea, and a ticketed adult only beer garden :Social Affair permit # 152791
Music: the Castle Lane band will play starting at 6pm
Making History Fun: Celebration of Hopewell’s role in history during our country’s founding
We are partnering with the Hopewell Valley Historic Society, The Hopewell Museum, the Washington Crossing Museum, and the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum inside the Train station
• Declaration of Independence signing, old-timey toys, and storybook coloring for kids
• Live re-enactors and history displays
• Celebrating John Hart as a Borough resident, signer of the Declaration of Independence, and highlighting his critical role during the Revolutionary war
• Historical artifacts and information on SSAAM’s mission and Black History
• Kids Games – both old and new
• Face-painting, sidewalk chalk art
• Quoits, Horseshoes, Basketball and Cornhole
• Tours of the John Hart memorial at the Baptist Meeting House cemetery
