The Naval Academy Band proudly presents a performance of the iconic jazz album Birth of the Cool. This concert celebrates 2026 as the 250th in the history of the United States of America and the 100th anniversary of the birthday of one of the most important and influential American musicians, Miles Davis (1926-1991). The ethereal and at times mysterious Birth of the Cool arrangements by Gil Evans and Gerry Mulligan (among others) featured Davis surrounded by a distinct instrumentation, including the non-common jazz instruments of French Horn and Tuba. The Naval Academy Band is uniquely suited to present this beautiful and historic music. Join us as we commemorate 250 years of the United States, America's classical music, and the iconic American artist, Miles Davis!
All Naval Academy Band concerts are free and open to the public with no tickets required.
