Join us for a special screening presented by the Embassy of Uruguay in Canada, in collaboration with Saint Paul University. This free, non-commercial event offers Canadian audiences the opportunity to discover contemporary Uruguayan cinema through an intense, suspenseful, and original vision of the zombie genre.
A mysterious virus sweeps across Montevideo, turning the infected into relentless killers driven by a violent frenzy. Unaware of the chaos unfolding outside, Iris and her young daughter spend the day inside the sports club where Iris works as a security guard. As night falls, survival becomes a desperate fight against an unstoppable enemy. Their only hope lies in discovering the infected's one weakness: after every attack, they remain strangely inactive for just 32 seconds before hunting again.
Combining relentless suspense, emotional storytelling, and inventive horror, VIRUS:32 has earned international recognition and established director Gustavo Hernández—best known for The Silent House (La Casa Muda)—as one of the leading voices in contemporary Latin American genre cinema.
The film will be presented in Spanish with English subtitles.
