This day will apply a highly relevant and practical approach to reviewing causes and presentations of uroabdomen, including options for emergency treatment and stabilisation and decision-making for surgical intervention or more conservative management. The day will include:

Diagnosis and decision making in
uroabdomen
Treatment options for upper urinary
tract obstruction
Tips and tricks to relieve lower
urinary tract obstruction and
choosing the right surgical
procedure (if indicated)
Core procedures:
Identify ureters and regional intra-abdominal
anatomy important in urinary tract surgery,
Perform ureteronephrectomy
Review cystotomy and abdominal wall closure
Perform scrotal urethrostomy on the dog or
colposuspension on the bitch
Review perineal urethrostomy for the male cat
