Join us at AMBACC, with our partners at The Underground Railroad Education Center, for an evening conversation with acclaimed artist Daesha Devon Harris, whose work explores the Black experience through memory, folklore, and the enduring relationship between people and water.
In this talk, award-winning artist Marcus Kwame Anderson will interview Harris about her celebrated project, Just Beyond the River. A Folktale, examining how water serves as a site of survival, imagination, and cultural memory within the Black experience.
Presented in conjunction with UREC's Working the Waters exhibit, this program offers an opportunity to engage with contemporary art that expands our understanding of the many ways African Americans have experienced and interacted with rivers, waterways, and maritime
landscapes.
