Urban sketching is a form of artistic reportage. It’s the act of drawing or painting on location in the cities, towns, or villages that you live in and travel to. You are capturing a moment in time in a unique, artistic way.
Friday evening we will work in the studio practicing the techniques on objects. Saturday and Sunday we will walk through Farmville and select buildings to record in our journals. This is a messy, fun, loose way to capture an image without the tediousness of realism.
Sketching materials will be provided. You may wish to bring a small backpack to put your materials in as well as an easy folding chair. You can purchase lightweight "camping" folding chairs in a bag at Walmart. We will be on location.
