Our next gathering...WHERE: Ska-nonh - Great Law of Peace Center. Some of you may remember when it was "The French Fort". This is on Onondaga Lake Parkway, just south of Onondaga Lake Park, where we met in July (at the Salt Museum).
WHEN: Saturday, August 23, 2025, 11:30 - 2:00 PM. Note the different hours from our usual. Good spot to enjoy a PB&J sandwich?
WHAT'S THE SCOOP?: Their website says,"The Ska-Nonh - Great Law and Peace Center is a Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Cultural Center focused on telling the story of the native peoples of Central New York". There is a small museum with an important story. It is located on a small hill with great views across Onondaga Lake. The old French fort is behind the Center. It is not officially open to the public due to its deteriorating condition, but we will be able to access some parts of it. And, finally, our own Barb Emerson, who has taken some amazing photos of eagles on the lake, tells us that a large tree at the entrance to the Center is where she captures many of her best images!
