September 1–3 | Uptown Port Townsend
Main Community Painting Day: Wednesday, September 2 | 8 AM–5 PM
Come help us bring a huge new piece of community-created public art to Uptown Port Townsend!
The Jefferson County Farmers Market, Port Townsend Pride, and gudlife invite neighbors of all ages to help paint the new Community and Pride Uptown Street Mural, featuring two connected public art installations:
🏳️‍🌈 Inclusive Progress Pride Flag crosswalks at Tyler and Lawrence Streets
🥕 A community farmers market mural on the 600 block of Tyler Street and at the Clay and Tyler Street crosswalk
No special painting experience is needed. This is a community project, and we want the community to be part of creating it!

Wednesday will be our primary painting and celebration day, with volunteers working together throughout the day to transform Uptown.
🎨 Community painting: 8 AM–5 PM
🥕 Port Townsend Wednesday Farmers Market: 3–6 PM on Lawrence Street
🎶 Music and festivities in Uptown
Come paint for a shift, visit the Farmers Market, enjoy the festivities, support Uptown businesses, or make a whole day of it!
Help Fund the Mural
We are currently about $2,000 short of covering the project costs, and community donations of any size will help us get this mural painted.
Funds raised toward that amount will also help us care for the mural in future years, including touch-ups after road repairs and when the mural is ready for a fresh coat.

Street Closures
To safely clean and paint the streets:
🚧 Tyler Street, from Garfield to Lawrence and Lawrence to Clay, will be closed September 1–3.
🚧 Lawrence Street, from Polk to Taylor, will be closed September 2 only.
Rain dates: September 8–10. Lawrence Street’s backup closure date is September 9.
Please continue supporting Uptown businesses during the project! Follow posted detour routes and keep shopping, dining, and visiting throughout the neighborhood.
Street murals are used in communities across the country to help calm traffic, improve pedestrian safety, and create welcoming public spaces. Pride crosswalks are also visible symbols of affirmation, respect, solidarity, and inclusion for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members and reflect our community’s commitment to welcoming people of all identities.
This project is about more than painting a street. It is an opportunity for neighbors of all ages to come together and create a lasting piece of public art celebrating community, inclusivity, Pride, local food, and the vibrant character of Uptown Port Townsend.
Grab a paintbrush and be part of it!
