THE STORY: It was a dark and stormy theater. Suddenly, a scream rings out!! The curtain opens to find a distraught woman. Her husband, the very wealthy Theodore Bodhi, lay dead on the divan in his study. But who would have killed him, and why? From the unconventional mind of self-proclaimed comedic genius John Sallustio (“A Little Ditty About Jacques and Diane”) comes a murder mystery unlike anything you have ever seen before. A mansion filled with outrageous characters, each one with an alibi, and a motive. Will you be able to solve the murder before the detectives do? Let’s find out in “A Play Gets Murdered”, a madcap murder mystery adventure that will leave you laughing throughout.
THE ROLES:
Mrs. Veronica Bodhi …. Female – 25-50 – loving wife, now grieving widow of Theodore “Ted” Bodhi. Sultry, intelligent, yet vulnerable; Morticia Adams type of character, but with more emotion. Flexible with age, looking more for who best fits the role
Detective Payne…. Male – 50s – 60s - grizzled veteran detective just trying to make it through his last day on the job. He has been around the block a time or three and nothing shocks him anymore. But, he knows something the rest of the characters don’t.
Detective Diassi…. Male – 25 - 40 years old – junior detective, just starting on the force, learning the ropes from Detective Payne.
Officer Mitchell/French Butler/Italian Cook/ and others…. Any age/gender but has been played by females in the past– this is a fun, physical role.
Maid/Black Knight/Mrs. McGillicutty – Female - 30-50 years old – Maid and Black Knight are self -explanatory. Mrs. McGillicutty is the 120-year-old loyal secretary of Theodore Bodhi.
Smart Alec Light/Sound Person…Any age/gender. Not your typical sound person. Only a few light and sound cues and you do get some on-stage moments.
