Up on the Down Beat is a supergroup based in New Haven, CT formed with the goal of revitalizing Funk in the state and beyond. Composed of highly sought after members of the regional Jazz, RnB/Soul and experimental music scenes, these members are united under the banner of bringing a good time to their audiences. They take inspiration from classic funk & soul groups such as Parliament, Tower of Power, Maceo Parker and Rufus and Chaka Khan, as well as inspiration from more Contemporary Jazz and RnB/Soul acts such as Roy Hargrove and the RH Factor, Erykah Badu, BIGYUKI, Immanuel Wilkins and more. Up on the Down Beat blend contemporary sounds with fearless exploration while being rooted in the addictive groove and danceable rhythms of Funk.
