Up Cycling! Guided cycling tour for families

This Culture Night the Glucksman invites families to jump on their bikes and join us for a guided cycling tour of Chris Judge's temporary public artworks.

Up Cycling! is an ambitious new trail of public artworks that runs across Cork city. The temporary artworks have been created to showcase the importance and joy of cycling in urban spaces.

Commissioned by the Glucksman and curated by Tadhg Crowley, the project is a collaboration between the artist and Cork Cycling Campaign that involved a public consultation which helped shape the design and message behind the artworks. The artworks also feature haikus written by Fionn Rogan, Senior Research Fellow in MaREI, UCC. These mobility haikus document the lived experience of a commuting cyclist.

Chris Judge is an illustrator, artist, and children's picture book author from Dublin, Ireland. Since 2011 Chris has written and illustrated over 35 children's books, many of which are in collaboration with authors like Roddy Doyle, David O'Doherty and Eoin Colfer. His first book, The Lonely Beast won the Specsavers Irish Children's Book of the Year 2011. Chris also creates large-scale artworks, including murals, installations, and wood-cuts.
