Welcome to the UOW UniBar Open Mic group hosted by Illawarra Music Foundry & UOW Music Culture Club. We're thrilled to have you here in this supportive and motivating community for musicians of all levels. Our aim is to create a friendly environment where everyone can excel and showcase their musical talents. Our team goes above and beyond with production works to support your journey into the music industry whilst providing multimedia content, mentorship programs and an array services for serious artists.
In this group, we share photos and videos from our open mic events, and keep an eye out for details about upcoming shows along with registration links released every Thursday at 7pm for the following week.
For those of you new to the format, here's how the evening typically unfolds:
16 Slots - (5:00pm - 10:00pm+)
Solo Artists:
Each solo artist gets to perform 3 songs or play for a total of 12 minutes.
We have a 3-minute changeover between solo acts.
Duos:
Duos have a slot for 4 songs or a 15-minute performance.
A 5-minute changeover time is allotted between duo acts.
Bands:
Bands have a set of 5 songs or 20 minutes to showcase their music.
There's a 10-minute changeover period between band performances.
Please keep in mind that these timings might vary from week to week based on the number of bookings and walk-ins we receive. Rest assured, we'll do our best to accommodate as many performers as possible and ensure that everyone gets a chance to take the stage.
