Untangling Titles: Preserving Homeownership and Generational Wealth

The conference, co-sponsored by Western New England Univeristy School of Law and the CATIC Foundation, will explore the impact of heirs’ property and tangled titles on individuals, communities, and legal systems. Attendees will hear from heirs’ property owners, legal professionals, court officials, and municipal leaders about the challenges of preserving inter-generational family homes for historically underserved heirs’ property owners. Keynote speaker Prof. Thomas Mitchell, founder of the Initiative for Land, Housing, and Property Rights at Boston College School of Law, and expert panelists from legal aid, pro bono, and law schools experiential learning initiatives will speak to this social justice issue and the programs that exist around the country to address it.
