An offering to children—an invitation back to their untamed, curious, and wildly creative minds.

This workshop is designed to unlock pure creative freedom, offering kids a safe, playful space where imagination leads the way. In a world that often tells kids to color inside the lines, Untamed Minds gives them permission to break the mold, explore boldly, and create without limits.

Through a mix of mindfulness, storytelling, and hands-on art-making, kids will:

We’ll begin with a short meditation to center their energy, followed by writing exercises to awaken their inner storyteller. From there, we’ll dive into visual art, experimenting with textures, colors, and unexpected materials to transform their stories into tangible creations.

Denise Lorena Garcia is a teaching artist, creative mentor, and trauma-informed facilitator dedicated to using art as a tool for healing, self-expression, and empowerment. With over 15 years of experience in mindfulness practices and trauma-informed care, she creates spaces where creativity becomes a pathway for self-discovery, resilience, and connection.

Her work with Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona has deepened her understanding of how art can be a powerful tool for emotional processing and growth. Through a unique blend of visual arts, movement, and storytelling, she invites participants to explore their inner world, tap into their authentic creative voice, and build confidence through playful artistic exploration.

Denise believes that every person is inherently creative and that art should be a space free of judgment—where curiosity leads the way. Whether working with children, teens, or adults, she fosters brave, joyful, and mindful environments that encourage self-expression and unleash untamed creativity
