FRIENDS OF THE ISRAEL ANTIQUITIES AUTHORITY is a U.S. based 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to raise awareness and provide financial support to the Israel Antiquities Authority. The Friends do this by promoting archaeological research, initiating exhibitions outside of Israel, and sponsoring activities that share the antiquities and heritage of the Holy Land with as many people as possible.

Dr. Joe Uziel, Head of the Dead Sea Scrolls Unit at the Israel Antiquities Authority, oversees the conservation, research, and presentation of over 25,000 fragments. These contain, among other texts, the earliest known copies of biblical texts. A leading authority in the history of Jerusalem from its earliest urban beginnings through late antiquity, he has been involved in excavations in the City of David, Davidson Center, and Western Wall Tunnels. These digs have revealed major archaeological findings, including First Temple structures and a Roman theater-like structure, the first of its kind to be discovered in Jerusalem.
