About this Event

Unlocking the Benefits of Dyson Farming Research Membership
An event designed for progressive potato growers

This event is specifically designed for potato growers who want to understand how independent, field-scale research can support better crop performance and more informed decision-making. It provides a practical insight into what being a member of Dyson Farming Research involves, and how this can deliver value within commercial potato production systems.

As part of the session, you will take part in a detailed field visit at the Dyson Farming Research Centre, where we will walk through a range of live trials currently underway. This provides growers intersted in membership an insight into the work that underpin our results and discussions.

Trials on show will include:

  • Biostimulant evaluation (foliar and in-furrow) – comprehensive testing of a wide range of products, including microbial and nutritional biostimulants applied at different timings to assess impacts on growth, yield and tuber development
  • Seaweed biostimulants for stress resilience – comparison of prescriptive and stress-responsive application strategies to support crop performance under challenging conditions
  • Low emission nutrition strategies – trials evaluating alternative fertiliser products and approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining crop performance
  • Low input nutrition systems (TRIP follow-up) – exploring the potential to substitute soil-applied nutrients with foliar nutrition, and evaluating integrated soil + foliar approaches
  • Novel nitrogen technologies – assessment of supramolecular nitrogen applied to foliage to improve nitrogen use efficiency and reduce reliance on conventionally applied fertiliser
  • Canopy management and senescence – trials investigating the role of potassium-based foliar applications in influencing crop senescence, yield and tuber quality
  • Biological approaches to crop protection – work exploring the use of floral tramlines and attractants to increase beneficial insect populations within potato crops

These trials have been designed to generate robust, independent data that can help potato growers make confident, evidence-based decisions around inputs, crop management and overall system performance.
