About this Event

The University of Manchester is hosting a dissemination event to share findings from a research project funded by The Energy Demand Research Centre (EDRC) and the University of Manchester.

Why attend?
Across Greater Manchester, communities are stepping forward to lead the transition to a low-carbon future. However, grassroots sustainability projects continue to face significant barriers in finance, policy, governance, infrastructure, and long-term delivery. This event will bring together researchers, policymakers, community organisations, local authorities, and practitioners to explore how to overcome these challenges and unlock the full potential of community-owned renewable energy initiatives.

What to expect:

  • Keynote talks and case study presentations on innovative governance models, local ownership, and measurable social and environmental impact.
  • Roundtable discussions and audience Q&A to foster candid conversations about the future of grassroots energy projects.
  • A showcase of findings from the ‘Co-design of community-owned energy projects’research, covering technical feasibility, social impact, and business model design.

Refreshments: Coffee, tea, and lunch will be provided.

We look forward to welcoming you to this important conversation.
