Throughout the workshop, students will extract real DNA from strawberries, investigate mystery substances using scientific testing, solve math-based code-breaking challenges, and rebuild a damaged cell by identifying the functions of its organelles. Each completed mission reveals a clue, bringing teams one step closer to unlocking the final vault.

Lesson 1: DNA Detective Lab

Students will explore the structure and fuction of DNA through an engaging mini-lesson before extacting real DNA from strawberries using common laboratory materials. They will then apply DNA base-pairing rules to solve a forensic mystery and identify the correct suspect, earning their first vault clue.

Lesson 2: Mystery Matter Lab

Students will become chemists by investigating four unknown substances using scientific observations and simple chemical tests. By collecting evidence and analysing their results, they will identify each mystery material and receive the next clue needed to unlock the vault.
