UNLABELED is Texas' first civic social experiment designed to challenge the way voters evaluate political candidates.
Unlike a traditional debate or candidate forum, candidates will participate anonymously during the moderated portion of the event. Political party affiliation will not be disclosed, candidates will not be introduced by party, and attendees will be asked to evaluate candidates based solely on their answers, ideas, experience, and vision for the community.
The event is 100% free & specifically designed to engage voters ages 21-50 who may not typically attend political events but still want a meaningful voice in the future of their community.
Throughout the evening, audience members will use a live interactive app to submit questions, take notes, participate in polls, and vote on which candidates they connect with most. Attendees will also be asked to identify which political party they believe each candidate belongs to based only on the responses they hear.
A panel of 3-4 moderators representing professional, educational, and community backgrounds will guide the discussion. During the live audience Q&A, 2-3 audience-submitted questions will be randomly selected and asked during each round.
To preserve the integrity of the experiment, participating candidates will not be publicly announced prior to the event and will be asked not to publicly disclose their participation before the event. Candidates may not reveal, discuss, reference, or otherwise identify their political party affiliation during the moderated discussion or the live audience Q&A portion of the event. Candidates will also be asked to wear simple black or white attire to minimize campaign branding and visual cues.
Between discussion rounds, candidates will have opportunities to engage directly with attendees, sponsors, and community members in a more casual networking environment.
At the conclusion of the evening, audience polling results will be revealed, allowing participants to compare their perceptions with reality and examine how political labels may influence assumptions.
UNLABELED is not intended to promote or disadvantage any political party, ideology, or candidate. Its purpose is to create a unique environment where voters can think critically, engage respectfully, and evaluate candidates based on substance rather than labels.
